Last night we talked about how we evaluate media and what shapes our worldview. We talked about a method of evaluating media called the 3D method and then applied it to some music videos. It seems like a ton of work but the more we do it the more of habit it becomes and quicker we are at it. You can see the questions and concepts we talked about in our Elevate Bulletin. Here are the highlights of the 3D method.
Discover-we have a number of questions to determine the worldview, mood, how humanity is treated, and whether God is honored or ignored.
Discern-how does the media connect with what God says about the world and our place in it.
Decide-is this something worth my time? is this something that will draw me closer to God or push me away.
This week was more the principles and questions we need to use when evaluating media. Next saturday (1/14) we will be meeting at the church to watch a movie and then discuss it in light of the 3D method including the questions in you can find in the Elevate Bulletin.
